How to use an astrological gemstone (Blog 2)

In our previous blog we explained astrological gemstones transmit the qualities of the planet it is ruled by. This blog will talk about care that should be taken while wearing a gemstone.

1. Gemstone should be purchased on the recommendation of an expert like a seasoned astrologer, numerologist, palmist, face reader or a professional spiritual healer.
2. Gemstone should not have any cracks and before wearing a gemstone it should be purified as prescribed by the expert.
3. While wearing a gemstone care should be taken that the stone should touch the body.
4. If a gemstone is worn on a finger using a ring then care should be taken to wear the stone in the correct finger. Though the choice of the finger to be used for wearing a stone should lie on the expert but usually stones are worn as follows: Yellow Sapphire (Pukhraj) is worn in the index finger, Blue Sapphire (Neelam) is worn on the middle finger, Ruby (Manik) should be worn on ring finger, Pearl (Moti) is usually worn on the little finger or ring finger, Coral (Moonga) is worn on the ring finger, Diamond is worn on the middle finger or ring finger, Emerald (Panna) is worn on the little finger, Hessonite (Gomed) is worn on the middle or little finger, Cat’s Eye (Lehsuniya) is worn on the middle or ring finger.
5. Each stone is ruled by a day of the week and ideally a stone should be worn on the ideal day or on an auspicious Muhurat. Ideal day for wearing a stone is as follows: Ruby –  Monday, Emerald – Wednesday, Diamond – Friday, Pearl – Monday, Coral – Tuesday, Yellow Sapphire – Thursday, Blue Sapphire – Saturday, Hessonite – Saturday and Cat’s Eye – Sunday.
6. Do not frequently remove the gemstone ring. Also gemstone ring should not be offered to others to wear.
7. Wearer should replace the gemstone within 3-5 years of wearing and replace it with a better quality new gemstone.
8. Protect your gemstone from high temperatures as it may add a flaw to the gemstone.
9. A gemstone should usually be worn on Shukla Paksha (Waxing Moon) days as Shukla Paksha period is considered auspicious for initiation of any work.
10. If after wearing a gemstone you experience uneasiness or experience a bad dream while sleeping, you should immediately remove the gemstone and you should consult an expert for help.
11. Wearer should use the stone of an ideal weight. Weight of the stone is measured in Carat or Ratti. Ideal weight of a stone to be worn usually depends on the weight of the wearer though this may vary from expert to expert. As a general rule of thumb a 70 Kg person should ideally wear a 7.25 Ratti (1 Ratti = 0.91 Carat) stone.
12. Genuine gemstones are usually supplied with certifications. It is always wise to ask the seller for certificate, though this may not be possible for seller to produce a certificate for every gemstone.
13. A gemstone should ideally be purchased from the expert you have consulted with. Gemstone’s effect may vary in its results based on the color, shape, size and cutting.
14. If more than one gemstone is worn then care should be taken that all the stones worn are compatible. As a general rule: Blue Sapphire (Neelam), Emerald (Panna) and Diamond are one group of friendly stones and Yellow Sapphire (Pukhraj), Pearl (Moti), Coral (Moonga) and Ruby (Manik) are another set of friendly planets.
