We again have Dr. Anand Bhardwaj with us, sharing some valuable insights on how to rightly use a mirror at home. Dr. Bhardwaj needs no introduction, he is a stalwart of his domain and he has immensely contributed to RockingBaba with his knowledge and vast experience on Vastu.
We often overlook the need to understand why a mirror should be installed at home in a specific way and this may many times lead to Vastu defects at home. Mirrors, if rightly used, are capable of overcoming some of the major defects at home without any need for demolition.
How can a mirror impact so powerfully?
A plain mirror creates a virtual image, in other words, an illusion. Many restaurants and shopping malls correctly use the mirrors to create a virtual expansion of their space which looks magnanimous to the visitors. Mirrors are basically reflectors and if a negative image is reflected from the mirror, that image is capable of magnifying many times and it can create a negative influence too.
Following are some really simple mirror Vastu tips and Feng Shui tips on how to use a mirror:
- Install mirror on the North or East wall of the dining area. The mirror should be installed in such a manner that the eatables on the dining table along with the people sitting around the table to enjoy their meals should be visible in the mirror.
- The mirror placed in the bedroom should not reflect any person sleeping in the room. A couple sleeping in such room, with a mirror reflecting them while at sleep, may develop strong disagreement with each other and may end up in frequent arguments.
- Feng Shui recommends the use of mirror on the inner walls of the cash box. Mirror should be pasted on all four walls of the cash box and care must be taken that none of the mirrors are pasted slanting.
- Never use a broken, faded, cracked or uneven mirror at home. A mirror which is blurring should be replaced with a new one.
- Women of the house should take care to not stick Bindis on the mirror.
- Mirrors should be avoided on South, West and South-Western walls.
- If a graveyard, jail, Dharamshala, transformer or an ugly looking building is placed right in front of the entrance of the house then use a Feng Shui ‘Pakua Mirror’ to ward of the negativity.
- A toilet should not be constructed on the North, East and North-Eastern wall. In case such a toilet is already built then install a full length mirror on the door of the toilet. This mirror should be installed on the outside.
- For a South-West facing premise, it is good to use reflective glass windows on the South-West side. The glass should create a mirror effect when looked from outside and not from inside.
- Central part of any building is called Brahmasthana and this space should be kept open. Any column erected in this space may lead to a Vastu Dosha. In case a column is erected in the central part of the building then fix mirrors on each of the walls of the column.
