Gemstone Coral or Moonga Stone (Blog 7)

Moonga stone, also known as Coral in english is a reddish colored gemstone which, as per astrology, is ruled by planet Mars. Coral bears the qualities of its ruling planet Mars. According to Vedic astrology Mars represents male energy and is also considered as the commander of the army. Mars is a fiery red planet and it is the significator of manhood, brothers, courage, strength, sports, warfare, will power, anger and passion. people having strongly placed Mars are well suited for professions like armed forces, property dealing, sportsman and other professions which need lot of energy, strength and courage. Sudden outbursts of anger or feeling of sudden rush in the blood is a representative of imbalance of Mars energy and this at times is referred to as Mangal Dosha in astrology.

Corals are formed deep under sea by skeletons of Polyps depositing together as a colony. Coral usually occurs between the depth of 20 ft and 1200 ft. Some of the best Corals usually occur at around the depth of 160 ft underneath sea. Corals found in the shallow water are generally darker and Corals found deeper in the sea are lighter in color. Oldest pieces of Coral can be found dating up to 25000 years and such Corals are usually showcased in the museums. Apart from red color Corals occur in many other colors too like Black, Pink and sometimes even Golden but red Coral holds astrological significance.

Red Coral is usually set in a ring made of Gold and Copper mixture and it is usually worn on the ring finger. Red Coral can be worn on the morning of Tuesday of any Shukla Paksha. Please consult an expert before wearing Coral as it may lead to a lot of unwanted troubles if worn incorrectly. Coral is usually not recommended to be worn along with Blue Sapphire and Emerald.
