Previous blog explained what is inner self and what is soul. In this blog we will explore a bit further on inner self and understand a bit deeper about Mind and how life is created.
Soul alone does not create the life. Life is created when soul and consciousness meet. Consciousness is created by the mind. Consciousness brings the vitality to the life by creating a perceivable world in front of us. Consciousness is very subjective in nature because each one of us perceive the universe differently which is why Lord Krishna explained in Bhagwad Gita that world is an illusion. Modern science also accepts that each animal differ in how they perceive the physical world, like for instance a dog doesn’t have coloured vision whereas a snake has an infra red vision and humans have a 3 dimensional colored vision. Fundamentally each animal is perceiving the world in his own way. A life is created when the soul and consciousness comes together. The word consciousness within the context of this blog includes all the states like super conscious or sub-conscious state. Moon represents mind as per Vedic Astrology and since the consciousness varies from person to person and it happens within the mind hence Hindu Vedic Astrology uses Moon sign for predictions and not the Sun sign.
As per Vedic texts the confluence of soul and consciousness is very well depicted by the Ardhnarishwar which is the half Lord Shiva and half Goddess Shakti. Lord Shiva represents absolute consciousness and Goddess Shakti represents absolute energy. Shivalinga is another such symbol which also depicts the union of highest form of conciousness with highest form of energy which also represents the creation. Shivalinga holds a very special importance in Hindu religion. Shivalinga is worshipped with utmost purity because it not just represent the creation of life but it represents all forms of creation including the universe itself. Shivalinga is rarely established at home and it is ideally worshipped at a temple since it requires a lot of daily rituals to maintain the purity. There are many other symbols and stories as per Hindu Vedic scriptures which explains the creation of the universe. Most of these stories and symbols have similar fundamental principle behind the creation. One more such story is given in Devi Bhagvata Puran where creation is attributed to Purusha and Prakriti union. Purusha here represents the consciousness or supreme soul and Prakriti represents the supreme energy.
